Final Nail Laquer Shoot

These are the final images of my Nail Laquer Look. I think I have created images that would sell the nail varnish really well as the hands have been placed in a relaxed way and aren't stiff. I think I've done well to present the makeup the way I wanted since I practiced. I like how the skin is glowing and the eye shadow is shimmering. The hair was dropping through out the shoot and so the curls became more like waves but I don't think this ruined the look too much and still made the shoot look Tom Ford. Overall I am really happy with this shoot and think the images have come out really nicely.

Final Day Look Shoot

These are my final images of the Day Look. I think I managed to create a natural look but still make it look Tom Ford by applying the metallic pink eye shadow. I think the lips and skin have a nice natural effect and the hair completes the look as it is curled but still slightly ruffled to fit in with the Tom Ford look. Over all I'm really happy with the outcome of this look as it is how I imagine a Tom Ford girl would look in the day and I also got some really nice images.

Final Night Shoot

These are the final images of my Night Look. I'm really happy with how the hair and makeup looks in this shoot. I added a satin primer to the skin which I was worried would look greasy in the photos but it has actually worked really well with the lighting in the studio making the skin look flawless. I think this is the best I have contoured a model's face as it looks really nicely blended on the skin. I was also worried that the eyelashes I used on my model would look too heavy but that also worked out nicely too and the eye makeup looks how I wanted it to. The lip shade I used also created a nice pinky tone but still natural looking too. I think the hair came out really great as it looked glamorous and mixed with the makeup to create a rock chick Tom Ford look really well.

Final Spring/Summer Look

These are the images of my Spring/Summer Look. I'm really happy with the results of the eye makeup in these images as they look bold and you can see the purple eyelashes really nicely. I was worried they wouldn't show up well. I think the skin looks slightly pale in some places and maybe I should have contoured the whole face better. I really like how the lip shade has created a shine and a really nice pout too. I really like how the hair turned out for the shoot as I managed to create loose, wavy curls that look glamorous too. I thought I'd style this shoot with a leather jacket and glittered top to complete this rock chick look. When shooting this look it took me a while to figure out where to take the photos. I took the first image with the model sitting on garden furniture and the other two images of her standing up. I also struggled to get the posing right because I knew it needed to look like how models pose in Tom Ford campaigns but overall I realised that when my model was relaxed she brought out the best poses for my images.

Final High Summer/Beach Shoot

These images are of my High Summer/Beach Look. I originally wanted a complete white back ground for this shoot but after testing different lighting I felt that this lighting really suited the shoot as it hits the model really nicely like the sun is shining on her. I also think the lighting has helped shown up the dewy effect I have created. I really like how the 2nd image shows the golden eyeshadow in a soft light but maybe I could have applied more so that it was more noticeable in other images. The hair varied through out the images but I think I did a good job creating beach waves for this look. Through out the shoot I put more salt spray in and scrunched it up so that the hair wouldn't fall flat. I think I bronzed the face in a way where it was subtle but still gave the model a Summery glow. Overall I really like the outcome of these photos as they can be very relatable to Tom Ford's campaigns  because the hair is in a style that a rock chick would have and the makeup has a dewy, glowing look that relates to some of Tom Ford's Summer Campaigns.

Overall Moodboard

This my overall mood board of what I have gathered from the Tom Ford Spring/Summer Makeup Collection. I've included the campaign image used for the collection to show what I am taking inspiration from and the focus of the project. I've decided to include images from the catwalk show of the Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2015 Collection because it is relatable to the makeup collection as there is an all together feel of this grungy/rock chic character that Tom Ford has made in both collections. I've included the two black and white images of the girls because they have the type of hair styles I am aiming to have in my 5 looks and have that rock chic look to them especially the girl on the left. I think the girl on the left is more grunge and relates to the type of hair I want to create. I've added crushed eyeshadows onto the mood board to show the colours of the collections. I will be using each one in some of my shoots.

Night Look Face Chart Draft

This is the final chart of my Night Look. For the eyes I have applied a blue shade of eyeshadow from my Revolution Dia De Los Muertos palette. I have also applied a black eyeliner and black lashes but these are actually meant to be teal green. The skin is going to be contoured with Illamasqua Disobey bronzer on the cheeks. For the lips I have applied NYX Tea Rose lipstick to make lips more pinky but still a natural colour and not too bold.

Spring/Summer Look Face Chart

This is a draft of my Spring/Summer Look. For the eyes I have applied a green shade from my Ultra Mattes Sleek Palette and a metallic green shade from my MUA Metallics palette. I've also applied black eyeliner and the eyelashes are meant to be purple but I've drawn them black. For the lips I have applied Maybelline's Honey Beige shade and the face is going to be contoured with Illamasqua's Disobey bronzer going along the cheeks.

High Summer/Beach Look Makeup Chart

This is my final chart of the High Summer/Beach Look. For the eyes I have applied a golden eyeshadow from that blends outwards (the scanner made it look brown but it is actually gold). I chose gold for the eyes to relate to the summer trends of tanned, golden skin. I've also applied MAC Coffee eyeliner along with mascara on the lashes to keep the eyes looking bold. As it is a beach look the skin is very natural with a slight golden tone. I'll need to use a model that has tanned skin to match the beach look. For the lips I've chosen a nude shade, Coffee Craze from Maybelline.

Nail Laquer Look Face Chart

For the nail laquer look I have created quite a glamorous design for the shoot. For the eyes I have applied two brown shades from my Sleek Au Natural Palette so that the dark shade fades out into a lighter shade. I've also applie MAC Coffee eyeliner shade on the eye to make the eyes look more bold along with mascara and individual eyelashes. For the lips I have chosen Maybelline Coffee Craze which is a light nude colour. For the skin I have applied a contour look, bronzing the cheeks with Illamasqua Disobey.

Day Look Face Chart

This is my final/updated chart of the day look I have created. For the eyes I have changed the eye shadow and made it more pink than peach with a metallic edge. For the lips I have chosen a nude lip shade by Maybelline that is one of the most natural to match the day look. For the skin I have created a contour look to keep in with the natural skin trend of Tom Ford. I really like how I have designed this chart as it is meant to be one of the most natural looks but with the metallic colour on the eyes, it also adds and completes the Tom Ford rock chic trend to it.

Campaign Ad of the Makeup Collection
'Ripe Plum' Eye Colour Duo
 'Raw Jade' Eye Colour Duo

 'Crushed Indigo' Eye Colour Duo
 'Black Jade' Nail Laquer
'Indigo Night' Nail Laquer
 'Black Plum' Extreme Mascara
'Teal Intense' Extreme Mascara

These are the products of the Spring/Summer 2015 Makeup Collection
The collection was inspired by peacock colours such as blue and green. The whole collection consists of different shades of blue, green and purple. The collection has been made mostly for the eye area so that clients can create a rock chick/ grunge look themselves with a twist of coloured mascara and nails to match to complete the Tom Ford Spring Summer trend look.

Spring/Summer Look Moodboard

I originally was added metallic green eye makeup images to my mood board but then I changed it to a lighter green powder shade as the original was too close to the 'Night Look'. I chose green for the eye makeup because it is a relatable colour to Spring. As colour mascara is part of the Tom Ford collection I wanted to apply this to the look. I've chosen a purple mascara by Collection 2000 as another colour of the spring trends. For the lips I have chosen a nude Maybelline shade, Honey Beige so that the look sticks to the Tom Ford trend. For the hair I wanted a loose curled style with lots of volume. I thought this would give a nice feel to the rock chick look.

Hair Chart for Night Look

For the night look I want to create glamorous curls as I think this style would suit this look the best. I think it would bring the whole look together and suit a Tom Ford rock chick look for a night out. I am going to create this style by curling, hair spraying and pinning the hair in sections. Once I have finished the makeup I am going to take the pins out, brush out the curls and finish the style by hair spraying it. Also if the hair is a bit flat at the top I will back comb and brush over the roots slightly.

Hair Chart for Nail Laquer Look

For the Nail Laquer look I want to create some really nice loose curls with volume at the top of the head. The makeup is already has the rock chick Tom Ford feel to it so I thought this type of hair would add more to the Tom Ford glamorous look and the volume creates the rock chick side with it. I will create this look by curling the hair in sections and hair spraying. Once i have finished the makeup i will brush the hair out and spray again. I will also backcomb at the roots and brush over for volume.

Hair Chart for High Summer/Beach Look

For the High Summer look I typically want to create beach waves but this is because I think it would suit the whole rock chick look that would be created for this look. Messy hair in the summer is the perfect combination for a rock chick. I will create this hairstyle by spraying the hair with water lightly and then scrunching it with salt spray.

Hair Chart for Spring/Summer Look

For the Spring/Summer look I have decided I want to create wavey hair with lots of volume at the roots. I've chosen this style because the makeup for this look is the most exaggerate out of the shoots and so I thought creating waves with volume would complete this rock chick look in a glamorous Tom Ford effect. I am going to create this hair style by curling the hair with tongs in sections and hair spray them. Half way up the head I will start to back comb the roots to create the volume I want. Once I have finished the makeup I will brush the curls through and not hairspray them so that the curls will drop and become more wavey.

Draft Face Chart of Day Look

This is a draft of my day look face chart. I created this look for the focus to be on the red lips and then have a pink cheek with peach eye makeup. When I created this face chart I thought it was meant to be inspired by the brand as a whole, not just the Spring/Summer 2015 makeup collection. If I could change it now I would make the eyes more of the focus of the look and take away the red and create a nude lip colour. The pink cheeks would also have to be changed as it is a day look and the trends of the collection is bare skin. I'd contour it in stead. For the eyes I would make them a more deep pink and black lashes.

Practice Day Look

This practice helped me so much as I learnt what changes needed to be done to create makeup looks more like Tom Ford campaigns. Everything needs to be more over the top. The eyelashes need to be longer and I think eyeliner would make the eyes more intense. I like the shade I've used for the eyeshadow but I thought it would have a more pinky peach tone than a purple brown tone. I really like how I've also applied colour on the cheeks but after observing the campaign more I think I should keep the cheeks less blushed and more contoured as it is quite a bare faced look and the focus goes more towards the bold eye makeup. I decided to apply a pink colour to the lips which have come out nicely as it is all about neutral pouts with the S/S 2015 look.

Night Look Moodboard

For the Night Look I want to create a glamorous and edgy look to match the mood Tom Ford has made of his Spring Summer Campaign. For the eye makeup I have chosen a blue metallic colour with a black smoulder to it because blue is one of the colours in his makeup collection. I have also included teal coloured mascara as this type of mascara is also part of the collection. For the lips I thought a nude pink using NYX Tea Rose shade would look great with this look as it is an in-between of nude lips and a glamorous night look. If I applied a red lip i think it would completely change the whole mood of Tom Ford's makeup look. For the skin I want a contour look with a slight pink cheek as seen in the mood board. I think the skin should also have a satin finish to it to portray how Tom Ford presents his model's skin in his advertisements. For the hair I want long curls with lots of volume so that it is glamorous but still rock chic at the same time.

Location Inspiration

Tom Ford Spring Summer Cruise 2015 Campaign Advertisments

For the Spring Summer and Night looks I was thinking of doing them on location. As inspiration I thought the photos of Tom Ford's Cruise 2015 Collection could help me think of how and where this should be set as it is on location. The location looks as if it is set in a car park and in a road. It seems that most of the location shoots Tom Ford does is set at night time as is his Autumn Winter 2011 Collection. To create my location shoots I will need to set it up with an urban background. I also need to think about taking the photos from angles as the images above aren't straight on. As these two looks would suit this type of location shoot perfectly as they are so glamorous and edgy looking to match the Tom Ford mood.

Day Look Hair Chart

This is the hair chart for my day look. I have decided to create loose curls because although this is a more natural look it should still have a glamorous side to it to suit the Tom Ford look. I want the hair to also look slightly ruffled so that it has that rock chick edge to it.  will create this look by curling the hair in sections and hair spraying. Once i have finished the makeup i will brush the hair out and spray again. I will also backcomb at the roots and brush over for volume.

Practice Nail Laquer Makeup Look

This images are of my practice Nail Laquer Makeup Look. From this practice it has made me realise I need to apply more eye shadow above the eyes rather than just going outwards. I also need to apply more lip colour to make them more nude as well as applying slightly more contour just so the cheek bones stand out a bit more.

Tuesday 10 March 2015

High Summer/Beach Look Moodboard

Summer is all about that sun kissed skin and looking natural. As Tom Ford's look is all about the smokey eye I thought I should apply a gold/bronze colour to them so that there is still smoke but it as natural as possible. I also decided to keep the lip a nude colour using the Maybelline Coffee Craze shade. The model definitely needs some beach waves for the hairstyle to keep with the messy hair look. To finish the look I think the model should also have a bronze contour so that it fits in with the tanned summer/beach theme.

Nail Laquer Look Moodboard

I thought if there was a third nail varnish to Tom Ford's collection it would most likely be a purple metallic shade because purple shades of mascara and eye shadow are also part of the collection. I thought this nail varnish would fit in perfectly with Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2015 trends. I think a brown smokey would go nicely to keep the mood dark. As the lip trend is nude for Tom Ford I wanted to include a nude pink colour and chose Rimmel 077 Asia lipstick. I also wanted to contour the face and not use blush to keep it as nude looking as possible but still sharp. For the hairstyle I think my model should have messy curly waves to keep the rock chick theme in tune with the project.

Promotion

Tom Ford was the director of Gucci for a decade as well as the saviour of the designer brand therefore already making Ford very well known for his success. By Ford also being a director that promotes himself even more as it shows he has more ambition and his name will become known in the film industry. The fact that he sells more than just clothing makes his brand more open to the market. Tom Ford promotes itself through campaign advertisements online and on their website. The brand also promote themselves through TV advertisements.
Tom Ford advertisments have been infamous for the sexualisation of women. They have advertised their products many times where the models are nude. In 2007 the advert for the first men's fragrance was banned in several countries because it was too sexual: the image was of the fragrance in front of a woman's genitals with her legs open. There was also another image of the fragrance in-between a woman's breasts.

Day Look Moodboard

For my Day Look design I was inspired by the Tom Ford catwalk look. As it is a day look I thought the eye makeup should be a more earthy tone but still have the Tom Ford style with the smokey eye. I thought a peachy pink tone with black eyeliner blended into it would be a good choice because it will make the eye makeup intense but not overdone. For the lips I thought I'd stick to a nude shade and used Maybelline's 'Honey Beige' shade. It's slightly darker than the shade on Daphne's lips but will match more to the eye makeup. For the skin I just want to apply a slight contour to the face and no blush so that the look is not over done and still looks like day makeup. The eye makeup is the key feature to the Tom Ford catwalk look so although heavy eye makeup isn't ideal for a day look, I think I should still apply colour on the eyes so that it fits in with the Tom Ford brand. For the hairstyle I don't think it should be too different from the original and still have that rock chick look. I've chosen long wavy hair with a bit of volume to it to keep it looking untamed.

Spring/Summer Trend Colours

To create my Spring/Summer Look I want to create a grungey smokey eye using 2 colour swatches of the Spring/Summer 2015 colour palette. As Tom Ford hasn't used any pastels in his collection/style/look I'm going to use two shades from the darker section of the palette. Spring reminds me of greens, pinks, and blues but I think for this look I would choose the turquoise (1st swatch on 5th row) for the eyeshadow and then apply purple (4th swatch on 6th row) onto the eyelashes.

Key Words of the SS 15 Style

I thought it would be a good idea to gather the key words of what the general style and look of the S/S 2015 collection is like so that I can start to get a clearer idea of what the design of my 5 shoots look like. I also think this will help me stay focused on what I should be aiming for:
  • Dark Leathers
  • Grunge
  • Rock-Chic
  • Messy Hair
  • Dark Tones
  • Smokey Eye
  • Metallics
  • Note that to create the smokey eye 3 different shades were used to create it.

Tom Ford Autumn/Winter 2015 Collection

Campain Advertisement of the A/W 2014 Collection

The A/W 2015 Collection was inspired by Tom Ford's life. His life in London is symbolised through the black 'forever' garment pieces. The cowboy boots complete the look to also represent his American Western life. A 60's spin has also been put on the collection as the models walk down the runway in shift style dresses. When the campaign advertisement above was made they matched the outfits that fitted with each woman's individual style and how they would work it. The main piece of the collection is the football jersey style sequin shift dresses as they have Tom Ford's name written across it along with his date of birth '61' on it too. I think this is the main piece because to me it is the most memorable and also has been by Beyonce. Jay-z sang the 'Tom Ford' song while rocking a similar shirt like this.
